LIVE INTERVIEWS |
Nancy has arranged with Shifty Mason, her agent, to get more perks in her personal services contract with her own corporation, in order to pay for her personal lifestyle through the corporation. Some examples:
Nancy places a call directly to Senator John Tower (who, just hours before airtime, failed confirmation as Secretary of Defense, presumably because of his problems with alcohol and womanizing). Tower is tracked down at Rosie's Bar and Grill, and the camera cannot see his head over the bar (Tower is short, and Rosie calls him "Tattoo"). Tower can't seem to understand most of Nancy's queries, and when he finds out Nancy in is Showbiz, he asks her if she can get him Dean Martin's autograph. He doesn't seem to understand the importance of the Secretary job he's just lost, and says, "I wouldn't make much of a secretary anyway. Hell, Jessica Hahn can probably out-type me."
Segment Three: Daffo the Clown
Daffo, "former comedy toast of the Islamic world", is on the lam because of the bounty placed on him by the Ayatollah. He has found out why he is thought to be guilty of blasphemy: he revealed how to do a magic trick without knowing that the magician's code is specifically incorporated into Islamic Law
His new life on the run has been disappointing. He tried to make a living as a hypnotherapist, but he was hired by the Academy of the Deaf, and he finds it difficult to get people to relax when you have to soothe them in "sign".
He is now working as a mime. He's invented "a whole new type of mime ... less stylized, no aloof make-up, and most importantly, I added talking". He demonstrates. "OK, now I'm walking against the wind. The wind shifted on me and blew me inside a box. Now I'm trapped in this box. I can't escape. Life, death, eternity."
Segment Four: The News with Scoop Cronkite
V.P. Dan Quayle has invented "Quayle's Cube", for people baffled by Rubik's cube. As it is only one color, and has no moving parts, Quayle himself can solve it in less than an hour, with no help from his imaginary friend. It was thought that Quayle was not the first V.P. to have an imaginary friend, but it turns out that Gerry Ford's imaginary friend was real, and was actually the fat guy on Mr. Belvedere.
Segment Five: The Crew Plots Against Nancy
The entire crew agrees to come in on their own time to film an audition tape for someone to take Nancy's job. They have in mind an actual employee of a real TV station.
